Guidelines for the Application of Health Protocol in Aquaculture

In response in the case where Indonesian fishery export product rejected because of COVID-19 by bureau of Import and Export Food Safety, General Administration of Custom China (GACC), Directorate General of Aquaculture Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fishery needed to create guidelines to prevent COVID-19 in aquaculture. That is why a meeting to disscuss the draft regarding Guidelines for the Application of Health Protocol in Aquaculture was held, to get some input regarding the draft that has been made. To anticipate and raise awareness regarding the potential of the transmission of COVID-19 in aquaculture business area, aquaculture activities from planning, preparation, execution, to handling and distribution of the harvest needs to pay attention to the health protocol of COVID-19 prevention as a part of aquaculture unit biosecurity. Good application of biosecurity, including controlling personnel or animal access, also maintaning cleaness and health of aquaculture units. These requirements are applied to all workers (fixed nor not fixed), visitors and other personnel who are in the aquaculture area. One way to do it is by limiting visitors from outside to the aquaculture units, making sure that the visitors who come followed the health protocol strictly. Controlling the process of receiving and delivery of items, fulfilling the provision such as conveyance, vehicle, and item packaging that gets into aquaculture area. Moreover the infrastructure needs to be taken care of, such as warehouse, pond, office, and other facilities, while also considering the health and safety of the personnel. The responsible person of aquaculture units monitors the health of workers especially the ones who take care of aquaculture tools (seeds, feeds, medicine, aquaculture water) harvest and harvest result (sorting, grading, weighing and other activities).
